The Woven Heart design has been a part of the Scandinavian heritage for hundreds of years. It is believed, but unconfirmed, that Hans Christian Andersen created the first woven heart in 1860. The heart from Hans Christian Andersen is on display at the Hans Christian Andersen Museum in Odense, Denmark.
Within the next 50 years, the woven heart became widespread in the Scandinavian countries and is a Christmas tradition. Most kids know how to make one of these woven hearts at a young age. The hearts typically have a handle on them and are used as Christmas tree decorations or a gift to give to others filled with treats. These hearts can be made out of felt, paper, or whatever material you would like to try. I am so excited to share this tradition with you and your family.
